Cousin Kentaro’s restaurant, Something Lovers Forever, opened its doors recently in Miyakonojo, and is definitely the place to visit if you are looking for a different experience. Kentaro brought with him years of experience from the Restaurant business in Kyoto and everything he learned from his design education to setup his life project. My parents visited some weeks back and were excited about the food, the atmosphere and the concept. Great to see how my cousins return to our family’s town and add value. Can’t wait to visit the place on our next trip to Japan! Address: 〒885-0015 宮崎県都城市千町5000. More photos: http://www.cogite.net/slf.html

This morning, Ojichan came on surprise visit and took the kids down to the small stream below our house to look for コゴミ (Kogomi), which he claims is a Japanese delicacy. They grow near small rivers in early spring. In great doubt, we picked quite a few and cooked them for dinner: indeed tasty! コゴミ is called Strutseving in Norwegian and Ostrich fern or shuttlecock fern in English. Latin name is Matteuccia struthiopteris.
