This morning, Ojichan came on surprise visit and took the kids down to the small stream below our house to look for コゴミ (Kogomi), which he claims is a Japanese delicacy. They grow near small rivers in early spring. In great doubt, we picked quite a few and cooked them for dinner: indeed tasty! コゴミ is called Strutseving in Norwegian and Ostrich fern or shuttlecock fern in English. Latin name is Matteuccia struthiopteris.
